Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptiuan Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in Bahrain and discussed means of strengthening bilateral relations and expanding co-operation in trade, investment, industry and tourism. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Manama Dialogue Forum.

The two ministers discussed ways to develop relations between Egypt and Armenia and increase diplomatic consultations.

Abdelatty welcomed the sixth meeting of the Egypt-Armenia Joint Economic Committee, held in Cairo last December, and expressed hope that the next meeting would take place in Armenia.

He also called for a business forum to be organised alongside the committee’s next meeting to bring together Egyptian and Armenian companies and explore opportunities for trade and investment.

The minister said both countries could expand co-operation in manufacturing, tourism and other economic sectors.

The two ministers also discussed regional and international developments and the importance of continued consultations on issues of mutual interest.

They stressed the need to support regional security and stability, resolve disputes through peaceful means and strengthen co-operation within international organisations.
