Amr El-Adawy, Head of Commercial Affairs at EgyptAir Airlines and Vice Chairman of the Distribution Committee of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), outlined the committee’s key activities and plans to develop airline retailing and distribution worldwide.
This came during the joint edition of IATA’s World Passenger Symposium, held in Macau, China.
The announcement followed a closed meeting of the Global Distribution Committee, chaired by El-Adawy in his capacity as Vice Chairman, with the participation and support of 20 members representing leading international airlines.
The meeting discussed key strategic issues aimed at keeping pace with the rapid developments in the aviation industry and moving towards more advanced models for selling and distributing airline services.

The discussions focused on five key strategic priorities, including accelerating the adoption of modern airline retailing models and translating the vision into practical implementation, enhancing integration among all stakeholders in the distribution ecosystem, keeping pace with advances in artificial intelligence and exploring its impact on future distribution channels, addressing regulatory challenges, and developing a new value chain built around modern airline retailing.
These priorities reflect the growing focus on developing airline retailing and distribution through digital solutions and smart technologies, while enabling airlines and their partners to achieve greater integration and respond to changes in the global market.
