Air Cairo has officially joined the International Airlines Technical Pool (IATP), strengthening its international co-operation and technical support capabilities.
Chairman of Air Cairo Hussein Sherif received the official membership certificate from President of the IATP Essam Hanafy during the organisation’s 134th session, held in Guangzhou, China, in October 2026.

The event brought together major international airlines and companies specialising in aircraft maintenance, engineering support, and spare parts supply.
Sherif said that joining the IATP is an important step for Air Cairo, opening new opportunities for co-operation with leading international airlines, exchanging technical expertise, and accessing advanced operational solutions.
He added that the membership will help improve fleet readiness, increase operational efficiency, and enhance passenger services.
Essam Hanafy confirmed that Air Cairo had received official approval for active membership, effective November 1, 2026. He welcomed the airline’s participation, highlighting its 23-year track record in the civil aviation sector.
Head of the Engineering and Maintenance Division at Air Cairo Tarek Gholam explained that membership provides access to an international technical support network covering approximately 900 stations worldwide.

This includes spare parts exchange and round-the-clock support for Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations, helping reduce aircraft downtime and maintain operational continuity.
Advisor to the Head of the Engineering and Maintenance Division Tarek Ghoneim added that IATP services include line maintenance at hundreds of international airports, along with specialised technical teams and equipment to address aircraft malfunctions.
The membership marks an important step in Air Cairo’s efforts to strengthen its technical capabilities, improve operational reliability, and expand co-operation with international airlines.
