The Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI) showcased locally manufactured water treatment technologies and pumps at the fifth International Water, Wastewater, Desalination and Waste Treatment Exhibition and Conference (IWWI 2026).

The step is part of Egypt’s efforts to expand domestic manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports.

AOI Chairman Major General Mohamed Abdel Fattah Abu Bakr said the organisation had made significant progress in localising advanced technologies for water purification, desalination and wastewater treatment.

He said the AOI is participating in the exhibition, held under the slogan “Made in Egypt”, with a wide range of locally manufactured equipment and technological solutions.

The event, inaugurated by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, runs from October 26 to 28 at the Cairo International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Nasr City.

Abu Bakr said the AOI has succeeded in offering modern scientific solutions and localising the latest equipment and technologies in water treatment, including desalination and purification, as well as sanitary and industrial wastewater treatment, drawing on its advanced production capacities and skilled workforce.

He added that there is broad government interest in encouraging local manufacturing and localising the pump industry, paving the way for Egypt to become a leading regional hub in the field. He noted that the AOI has localised pump manufacturing in line with international quality specifications, a positive step towards achieving Egypt’s Sustainable Development Vision 2030.

He said the AOI’s various types of water pumps feature the highest rates of local content and serve as an alternative to imported pumps. They include vertical, horizontal, submersible and split-case pumps in different capacities to meet the requirements of the Ministry of Housing and the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater.

Abu Bakr stressed the AOI’s commitment to supporting national development projects, particularly those involving drinking water treatment and sanitary and industrial wastewater management.

The AOI chief also highlighted the importance of expanding co-operation with private-sector companies and attracting foreign investment.

He said the organisation aims to strengthen industrial integration by combining state manufacturing capabilities with private-sector expertise and international partnerships.

During the exhibition, the ministers of housing, military production and industry toured the AOI pavilion.

They reviewed the organisation’s products and manufacturing capabilities, including technologies designed to improve water treatment and wastewater management.

The ministers praised the AOI’s efforts to expand local manufacturing, develop advanced industrial technologies and reduce dependence on imported equipment.
