President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has announced that the ‘Egypt Forum’ will become an annual event, creating a permanent platform for dialogue between the government and all segments of society, with the presidency overseeing the implementation of its recommendations.
Speaking at the forum’s closing ceremony on Saturday, President Sisi said Egypt had followed a comprehensive path of reform and development since 2014 despite exceptional challenges that threatened state institutions, national stability and economic progress.
“We chose the more difficult path. We did not have the luxury of waiting, nor the option of postponing difficult decisions,” he said, referring to efforts to address long-standing structural challenges, combat terrorism, modernise infrastructure and improve public services.
The president expressed appreciation for the Egyptian people’s patience and resilience, acknowledging the significant sacrifices and burdens they had borne throughout the nation-building process.
He stressed that the state, the government and the people are inseparable, adding that public institutions have a responsibility to serve citizens, improve living standards and safeguard national stability.
“Our aim was not merely to transform life in Egypt, but to build a future that opens new horizons of hope,” President Sisi said, highlighting the broader goals of development, including job creation, strengthening education and enhancing citizens’ quality of life.
He also underscored the importance of public awareness, institutional accountability and drawing lessons from past experiences, describing the achievements of the New Republic as a collective accomplishment of the Egyptian people.
The president announced that the annual forum would include a monthly focus on a specific sector to highlight achievements, evaluate their impact and assess progress towards established goals.
Decisions arising from discussions would be published on the forum’s official website, with their implementation monitored by the Presidency.
He identified easing the cost-of-living burden and improving public services as key priorities, calling for recommendations to be translated into tangible measures that positively affect daily life.
PM showcases nation-building journey
According to Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly presented a timeline of national developments from 2011 to 2014, an interactive map of projects and achievements realised between 2014 and 2026, and a book documenting the country’s accomplishments over the past twelve years.
The programme also featured “The Journey”, showcasing nation-building and development across sectors, an economic influencer’s assessment of energy challenges amid regional crises; presentations by three young influencers; and “A Generation’s Dream”, in which children under thirteen shared their aspirations for Egypt’s future.
The prime minister subsequently announced the forum’s outcomes.
The president invited former Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker, to review achievements in the energy sector, including efforts to avert an electricity crisis through decisive leadership and negotiations with international companies.
Concluding his address, President Sisi called for continued co-operation among state institutions to fulfil national responsibilities and prayed for the nation’s continued prosperity.
The closing ceremony opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran and a documentary reviewing the forum’s discussions.
