The hot air balloon launch site in Luxor is undergoing a comprehensive development project aimed at improving infrastructure, streamlining daily operations, and strengthening safety standards.
Executed in alignment with directives from Chairman and Executive Managing Director of the Egyptian Airports Company Wael El-Nashar, this initiative reflects Luxor’s status as a premier global historical and tourist destination while elevating the quality of services provided to international visitors.

To accommodate growing operational demands and optimise safety, the site has been upgraded with a dedicated entrance and an expanded launch capacity, increasing the total number of launch pads from 29 to 37.
The development introduces designated balloon staging areas alongside tailored service routes for passenger vehicles and transport trucks carrying balloon equipment.

Newly constructed service roads, dedicated parking areas, and a leveled launch ground ensure seamless vehicle movement and highly organised ground operations.
Visitor comfort and logistics have also been significantly enhanced through the construction of a 450-square-metre shaded waiting area equipped with seating, tables, and essential guest amenities.

The newly developed service and commercial zones feature dedicated spaces for a cafeteria, bazaars, retail outlets, modern restrooms, administrative buildings, and landscaped green areas. A natural perimeter of trees surrounds the venue, enriching the visual landscape while maintaining harmony with the site’s natural environment.
Operational reliability and site security have been reinforced through an upgraded surveillance camera network, enhanced lighting infrastructure, and an agreement with the electricity utility to install a dedicated power transformer and independent electrical supply.
