The foreign ministers of Egypt, Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia met their counterparts from France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom in Istanbul on Friday to discuss regional and international issues, according to a joint statement.
The ministers discussed the US-Israeli conflict with Iran, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the need for a negotiated two-state solution, as well as what the statement called appalling Houthi militia attacks against Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s government.
They also discussed the safety and freedom of navigation, rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb, and the Black Sea.
The ministers said they were committed to contributing to diplomatic efforts to promote peace and stability and address the security, economic and trade implications of the issues.
They called for urgent action to address regional conflicts through dialogue, diplomacy and de-escalation, and said lasting negotiated solutions to outstanding conflicts should be found in accordance with relevant UN resolutions.
The ministers agreed to continue talks in the same format, with the aim of preventing conflicts and advancing peace and stability in the region.
