Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co‑operation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty participated in Romania’s annual meeting of heads of diplomatic missions on Monday , delivering a recorded address to commemorate 120 years of Egyptian‑Romanian relations. The event was attended by Romania’s Foreign Minister Oana Ţoiu and Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al‑Zayani.

Abdelatty highlighted the recent strengthening of bilateral cooperation, noting opportunities for deeper political and economic engagement. He underlined the strategic importance of the Suez Canal and the Black Sea as global trade corridors, offering scope for enhanced logistics, maritime transport and trade links between Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The minister also addressed pressing regional and international developments, including the Palestinian issue, conflicts in Sudan, Libya, Syria and Lebanon, as well as challenges in the Red Sea and Horn of Africa. He referred to the Iranian war and the Ukraine crisis, stressing their impact on food security, energy markets and supply chains. Abdelatty called for stronger international coordination, adherence to multilateral frameworks, and respect for international law and the UN Charter, including sovereignty and non‑interference, to safeguard global peace and security.
