Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) has launched therapeutic nutrition clinics within family medicine centres across five governorates covered by the Universal Health Insurance (UHI) System, marking a new step in expanding preventive healthcare services and strengthening integrated primary healthcare.

The new clinics have been established in Port Said, Ismailia, South Sinai, Luxor and Aswan as part of the Authority’s strategy to introduce integrated therapeutic nutrition and physiotherapy services within its primary healthcare facilities.

EHA Chairman Ahmed El-Sobky said therapeutic nutrition has become a fundamental pillar of modern healthcare systems due to its vital role in disease prevention, improving treatment outcomes and supporting rehabilitation programmes.

He stressed that integrating therapeutic nutrition with physiotherapy within family medicine centres provides a comprehensive model of care that enhances quality of life, reduces the prevalence of lifestyle-related diseases and limits complications associated with chronic illnesses.

El-Sobky further added that the clinics provide specialised services for patients with diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular and kidney diseases, obesity, underweight conditions and malnutrition, in addition to serving pregnant and breastfeeding women, children, older persons, people with disabilities and individuals at high risk of developing chronic diseases.

Services include comprehensive nutritional assessments, personalised therapeutic nutrition plans, regular follow-up consultations, specialised nutritional interventions, and health education and awareness programmes, all delivered in accordance with the latest clinical evidence and international best practices.

The EHA chief emphasised that expanding therapeutic nutrition services forms part of the Authority’s broader strategy to shift towards a prevention-based healthcare model centred on early intervention.

He noted that the initiative will enhance the efficiency of primary healthcare services, support national efforts to combat chronic diseases, improve public health indicators and raise citizens’ quality of life, in line with the objectives of the UHI System and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
