Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met today in the New Administrative Capital with Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk to follow up on the latest efforts to improve Egypt’s subsidy system and strengthen social protection programs.

Madbouly stressed that the government is committed to ensuring subsidies reach those most in need with greater efficiency and transparency. He highlighted the importance of continuously updating databases and using digital platforms to better identify eligible beneficiaries, in line with Egypt’s vision of building a more sustainable and fair social safety network.

The meeting reviewed proposals to modernize subsidy mechanisms in response to economic and social changes, focusing on governance, digital transformation, and integration of government databases. Officials also discussed progress in cleaning and updating beneficiary records to ensure support goes to the rightful recipients.

Minister Farouk confirmed that his ministry is pressing ahead with reforms, including digital integration, improved targeting, and simplified procedures for citizens. He emphasized the importance of grievance mechanisms to protect citizens’ rights and maintain transparency.

Both sides agreed to continue coordination among relevant agencies, monitor performance indicators, and measure the impact of policies on vulnerable groups. The Prime Minister reaffirmed that these efforts reflect President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to strengthen social protection and improve living standards for Egyptians.
