Cairo is set to become the centre of the aviation world as it prepares to host the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Ground Handling Conference from May 19 to 21, 2026.
This important event is supported by EgyptAir, and all the local teams are already working hard to make sure everything runs smoothly.
It is the biggest meeting of the year for people who manage everything that happens on the ground at airports, from parking planes to handling baggage.
The choice of Cairo highlights Egypt’s strategic importance as a primary gateway connecting Africa and the Middle East to the global market.

The head of EgyptAir, Pilot Ahmed Adel, explained that the conference is a great chance for airlines and ground teams to work closer together.
The goal is to share the best ideas and use new technology to make flying safer and more reliable for everyone.
The meeting will cover many interesting topics, such as how artificial intelligence can make airports safer and how to deal with changing fuel prices. Experts will also talk about better ways to track luggage so it doesn’t get lost and how to help airport workers stay refreshed and alert on the job. They will even discuss new rules coming in the next few years to make sure every airport in the world follows the same high standards.
