Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan have called for intensifying efforts aimed at defusing tensions and resolving crises through prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions, while rejecting escalation and the use of force in the region.

The remarks were made during a phone call between the two top diplomats, as they discussed the latest regional developments.

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khallaf said the phone conversation tackled the growing escalation in the region, with the two ministers underlining the necessity of pursuing diplomatic paths and constructive dialogue to bolster regional security and stability and preventing the region from sliding into more instability.

Abdelatty and Prince Farhan addressed the updates on the Gaza ceasefire agreement, as they underscored the importance of implementing the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan. The pair also reviewed the situation in the West Bank amid the repeated daily Israeli violations in the West Bank and Gaza.

The two ministers also probed the deteriorating humanitarian and security situation in Sudan, highlighting ongoing endeavors to support de-escalation and stressing the urgency of reaching a humanitarian truce as a first step towards a comprehensive ceasefire and the launch of an inclusive political process in the country.

They emphasized the significance of establishing safe humanitarian corridors and zones for innocent civilians, particularly in light of the massacres and grave atrocities reported in the city of El Fasher at the hands of armed militias, stressing the need for their withdrawal to ensure the protection of civilians.

Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s firm position in support of Sudan’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, the preservation of its national institutions, and the rejection of any attempts to equate state institutions with armed militias.
