General Abdel Mageed Saqr, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production, met on Tuesday with US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and his accompanying delegation during their current visit to Egypt.
The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defence’s General Secretariat.
The talks addressed a number of issues of mutual interest at both regional and international levels, as well as their implications for security and stability in the region.
Saqr underscored the depth of the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, praising the growing prospects of co-operation in a manner that serves the shared interests of both countries, particularly in military and training fields.
For his part, Landau commended Egypt’s influential and active role at the regional and international levels, as well as its efforts to maintain security and stability in the Middle East and across the African continent.
The meeting was also attended by Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, a number of senior military commanders, and the Chargé d’Affaires of the US embassy in Cairo.
