Madbouli: CIT sector enjoys attention from pres. Sisi 11 - Egyptian Gazette

CAIRO – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said Egypt was keen on continuing efforts to support and enhance the Communications and Information Technology (CIT) sector.

He considers it one of the four sectors—alongside industry, agriculture, and tourism—that the government places at the top of its agenda.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat exerted efforts to develop this promising sector, he said.

Madbouly highlighted the great attention the CIT sector receives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, given its role in providing thousands of job opportunities for Egyptian youth, contributing to the growth of digital exports and services, and enhancing Egypt’s competitiveness in many markets.

This statement was made while Madbouly chaired the weekly government meeting today at the cabinet headquarters in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), where various important topics and files were discussed and reviewed.

At the beginning of the meeting, the premier referred to the recent meetings and phone calls held by president Sisi with a number of international leaders and officials.

These discussions focused on supporting and strengthening cooperation and bilateral relations in many fields and sectors of mutual interest, as well as reviewing regional developments, particularly the outcomes of the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit.

The premier also addressed the results of the important meeting held by Sisi with the chairpersons and leaders of 52 of the largest Egyptian and international companies operating in the outsourcing industry.

This meeting took place on the sidelines of their participation in the Global Outsourcing Summit, which Cairo recently hosted.

The summit’s convening confirmed the international community’s confidence in Egypt’s capabilities in the communications and information technology sector.

This materialized in the signing of 55 agreements between Egyptian and international companies and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to open new outsourcing centers in Egypt or expand existing ones.

This is due to the material and human capabilities and potential Egypt possesses, which contributed to attracting these companies to operate on its soil, and which is expected to provide over 70,000 new job opportunities for promising youth in this field.
