CAIRO – Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted the Egyptian government’s support for the pivotal role of the Ministry of Culture in strengthening Egyptian cultural identity through a wide range of initiatives and activities that not only impact the local community but also shape Egypt’s image abroad.

This came as Madbouli reviewed a report from Minister of Culture Ahmed Fouad Hanno outlining the ministry’s key recent activities.

Hanno announced the opening of applications for the 2026 state encouragement awards across various fields including arts, literature, social sciences, law and economics.

Marking the anniversary of Egypt’s historic October war victory, the ministry organized over 500 cultural and artistic events nationwide. These included concerts, book fairs, storytelling sessions with war heroes and intellectual forums. The 52nd anniversary celebration at Cairo Opera House featured prominent Arab singers and drew large public attendance, he said.

The ministry also organized the 23rd Cultural Forum for Youth from Egypt’s border governorates as part of the “Ahl Masr” (People of Egypt) initiative, which aims to nurture talent and reinforce national belonging, he added.
