Egypt has made notable progress in key global indicators of stability, peace, and the fight against violence and extremism, a recent infographic published by the Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Centre revealed. Based on internationally recognised sources including the World Bank, the Gallup Global Law and Order Index, and the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), the report serves as a testament to Egypt’s consistent efforts toward fostering national unity, enhancing public safety, and promoting religious tolerance.

According to the infographic, Egypt has successfully exited the US State Department’s list of “Countries of Particular Concern” for the ninth consecutive year (2017–2025). This list includes nations involved in or tolerating severe violations of religious freedoms. Between 2011 and 2016, Egypt was consistently included in this list, but its removal underscores the country’s commitment to religious freedom and peaceful coexistence.

The infographic also reveals a remarkable improvement in the World Bank’s Political Stability and Absence of Violence Index. Egypt’s score jumped from 7.6 points in 2014 to 16.6 points in 2023, reflecting a more stable political climate and a significant reduction in violence.

Likewise, Egypt standing improved in the Gallup Global Law and Order Index, which measures citizens’ sense of safety and security. The country’s score improved from 3.1 points in 2014 to 2.4 points in 2025, where lower scores indicate a greater sense of security among the population.

Moreover, Egypt moved from 13th place in 2014 to 32nd in 2025 in the IEP’s Global Terrorism Index. This notable shift reflects a decline in terrorist activity and a broader success in counterterrorism strategies.

Furthermore, Egypt’s performance improved in the IEP’s indicators of societal peace and ongoing conflicts. The peace index score improved from 3.3 points in 2014 to 2.3 points in 2025, while societal safety and security also saw a rise, with the score improving from 3.1 points to 2.4 points.

These developments come amid a broader state-led initiative to foster a culture of citizenship, tolerance, and national identity. Egypt has prioritised legislative reforms to safeguard religious freedoms, enabled the construction of places of worship, and invested in cultural and traditional projects. Political representation for Coptic Christians has also increased, demonstrating a commitment to inclusive governance.

By integrating policies that emphasise equality, coexistence, and civic engagement, Egypt continues to offer a regional model for peaceful pluralism. The international community has recognised this approach, hailing Egypt’s progress as a benchmark in combating extremism and promoting unity across diverse societal groups.

With these achievements, Egypt reinforces its position as a leader in fostering peace, security, and religious harmony — an effort that resonates both locally and on the world stage.
