CAIRO – Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hany Suwilam conferred with Director of Sustainable Infrastructure of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Sue Barrett on fields of cooperation between his ministry and the EBRD in managing water resources.
The meeting reviewed different fields of cooperation between the ministry and the EBRD including a project for improving the quality of water in Kitchener Drain.
Suwilam pointed out the importance of achieving harmony between the Egyptian laws and the rules of the EBRD to remove obstacles facing the project and accelerate the implementation rates.
The meeting also tackled aspects of cooperation with the EBRD related to assessing the construction state of the Rashid maritime wall.
The meeting discussed the re-qualifying of the lifting stations to contribute to improving the performance of the water system in addition to reducing their power consumption.
