DUBLIN- Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris emphasized their determination to bolster bilateral relations across various fields, with a special focus on the economic domain.

Sisi met with Harris on Wednesday as part of his official visit to Ireland within a European tour that also included Denmark and Norway.

The two leaders agreed to take concrete steps to leverage Irish technological expertise in the sectors of industry, communications, agriculture, and the environment, to meet the aspirations and mutual interests of both nations.

The discussions also addressed the situation in the Middle East, highlighting Egypt’s efforts to enforce a ceasefire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza without conditions or obstacles. The need to prevent escalation or the spread of the conflict was also underscored.

The Irish premier expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s historical role in supporting the Palestinian cause, commending Cairo’s persistent and wise efforts to promote calm and stability in the Middle East.

For his part, President Sisi praised Ireland’s courageous stances in support of the Palestinian cause.

Both leaders affirmed that expanding recognition of the Palestinian state as part of the two-state solution is a fundamental guarantee for achieving peace, restoring stability, and advancing development efforts in the region.

Sisi extended an invitation to Harris to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
