The agenda of the 4th World Youth Forum (WYF), slated for 10-13 January in Sharm el-Sheikh, was announced on Thursday .

The event will be held under auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, an official statement said.

This year’s forum will address topics of peace, development and creativity in the post-Covid world.

Before the start of the forum proper, there will be two days of workshops on the repercussions of the pandemic, UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the future of Africa, financial technology in emerging markets, digitisation, education and prospects for Generation Z in the post-Covid era.

Meanwhile, the WYF launched on Thursdays its interactive platform for remote participation in the forum’s activities, demonstrating keenness to help who will not be able to attend to follow the event.

The platform also offers information on the forum and its agenda, and the chance to take part on line, just through registering a user’s e-mail. Visit: https://virtual.wyfegypt.com.

Discussions will also cover water policies, environment, the role of emerging companies, and reviewing the ‘Decent Life’ initiative as Egypt’s leading experiment for human development.

The forum’s opening ceremony will be followed by a session on the pandemic.

The following two days, workshops and discussions will deal with climate change, COP 27, the future of health care, behavioral and psychological repercussions on the post-Covid era and means to combat poverty.

Other issues to be tackled during the forum are the future of energy, sustainability of water security, global peace and security, and post-conflict reconstruction.

The forum focuses on upholding human values, through discussions on art, creativity, and creating a safe and inclusive world for women, the statement said.

A major feature of the 4th WYF is a simulation of the model of UN Human Rights Council (MUNHRC).

Activities which the forum started in its three previous editions, such as the WYF theatre, ‘Freedom.e’, ‘Inspire.d’ and ‘Start Vein’, will be continued this year, in addition to new ones to be launched for the first time.

The WYF theatre is a youth-to-youth hub that gathers promising artists from all over the world to display their talents and express their cultures through a wide range of art-related activities.

‘Freedom.e’ is a technology-oriented event that gathers all young tech-enthusiasts to present a number of applications and solutions for issues discussed in the forum.  ‘Inspire.d’ is a platform for everyone to share their inspirational stories of achievement, hope, dreams, survival, and even failure.

‘Startup Vein’ is an entrepreneurship platform where entrepreneurs can share their experiences, the challenges they faced, and their successes with youths.

The UN recognised the WYF as an international platform for dialogue in February 2021 as well as the launch of UN Human Development Report in Egypt this year, which reflects Egypt’s human development efforts in addition to the launch of the Egypt’s national Human Rights strategy in September 2021.
