NFSA highlighted in its report that the General Administration of Factories Control carried out 91 supervisory inspections of food factories nationwide, according to the Information Centre of the National Food Safety Authority’s 27th report, during the period from July 20 to 26.

The Department of Control of Packing Stations and Centres exanimated, inspected visits reached 34 and issued 503 agricultural export permits.

Beans topped the list of exports at 12,000 tonnes, followed by onions at 10,000 tonnes, frozen vegetables at 10,000 tonnes, and types of exported vegetables reached 66.

Citrus fruit exports were in the lead with 15,000 tonnes, followed by strawberries at 10,000 tonnes and mangoes at 6,000 tonnes.

Sudan, Italy, Yemen, and Thailand were the biggest customers for Egyptian products out of 135 importers.

The General Administration for Registration and Licensing of Private Food registered 40 products, seven companies, examined 640 new products, and issued 5 free sell certificate.

Complaints Management carried out 428 inspection campaigns to ensure the safety of food in a number of governorates.

Control of Commercial Chains has conducted 66 commissariats to ensure that their branches meet the requirements of food safety.

561 food establishments were registered, and 182 establishments met the requirements.

The Warehouse Control Department implemented 28 monitoring missions in a number of governorates.

The General Department of Slaughterhouses conducted 6 inspection visits to poultry and meat slaughterhouses, as well as 45 visits to intestinal factories, in addition to issuing 13 permissions for exports to the EU.

The National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), as part of its role, has launched extensive inspection campaigns to ensure food safety. This came in line with directives from NFSA chairman Dr Tareq El-Houby to tighten the control on food establishments in a number of governorates.
