Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has stressed the government’s commitment to strengthening social protection, improving coordination among government policies and programmes, and ensuring the efficient allocation of resources to meet citizens’ basic needs, particularly those of the most vulnerable groups.
The prime minister made these remarks during a meeting held to review preparations for the session entitled ‘Regulating Markets and a More Effective Social Protection System’, as part of the Egypt Forum 2026, scheduled to begin on Monday and run until October 24 in the New Capital.
During the meeting, Madbouly emphasised the importance of the session, highlighting its direct link to improving citizens’ quality of life and reinforcing social stability.
He underscored the need to develop the social protection system further and enhance integration among government policies and initiatives to ensure that support reaches eligible beneficiaries effectively.
Discussions covered the session’s main themes, focusing on strengthening social protection, bolstering food security and improving coordination among government programmes.
Participants examined ways to maximise available resources and improve living standards through more effective and integrated interventions.
The meeting also reviewed government efforts to ensure the availability of essential commodities in sufficient quantities, maintain stable supply chains and promote market stability.
Measures include continuously monitoring commodity stocks, intensifying inspections of markets and retail outlets, and taking firm action against monopolistic practices and price manipulation to protect consumer rights and ease the cost-of-living burden on citizens.
Furthermore, participants discussed priorities for the coming phase, including mechanisms to develop relevant programmes and initiatives, assess achievements and identify existing challenges.
Emphasis was placed on enhancing government performance, improving responsiveness to target groups’ needs and ensuring more effective delivery of support.
The discussions reaffirmed the government’s determination to strengthen social protection and security, safeguard food supplies and improve the effectiveness of policies designed to support citizens.
Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom, and Head of the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) Major General Akram El-Gohary were present at the meeting.
