The Indian Navy’s frontline frigate, INS Tabar, arrived in the historic port city of Alexandria, Egypt, for a four-day goodwill visit from June 27 to 30, 2024.
This marks the second visit of INS Tabar to Egypt in recent years, following its call in June 2021.
India and Egypt share a rich tapestry of cultural exchange and economic partnership spanning centuries.
This relationship has flourished in the modern era, culminating in a strategic partnership established during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic visit to Egypt in June 2023.
The visit of INS Tabar underscores India’s commitment to strengthening defence ties with Egypt and fostering maritime security co-operation.
Throughout its stay, the crew engaged in professional interactions and social events with their Egyptian counterparts.
To further solidify this collaboration, the two navies will conduct a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) at sea.
These joint exercises aim to enhance interoperability and refine operational procedures.
On June 27, INS Tabar hosted a reception for distinguished guests, including Chief of Staff of Alexandria Naval Base Commodore Mohammed Megally, Ambassador Ajit Gupte and Embassy officials, alongside prominent figures from both nations’ civilian and military sectors.
This goodwill visit reinforces the strong bond between India and Egypt, paving the way for continued collaboration in safeguarding regional security.
