In coordination with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the Civil Aviation Authority organised a specialised training course on risk management and threat assessment for personnel from various security agencies in the civil aviation sector. The course focused on continuously developing the skills of aviation sector employees and enhancing their capabilities to meet international safety and security standards.

Pilot Amr El-Sharkawy, President of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, expressed gratitude to the ICAO Middle East Regional Office for their supportive efforts in training and exchanging expertise among aviation personnel.

Additionally, the authority hosted a workshop on regulating hot air balloons and issuing certificates in collaboration with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The workshop, under the auspices of the Mediterranean Aviation Project, brought together 40 representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority, local balloon operators, and regulatory bodies from Jordan, Morocco, and Spain. Discussions aimed to enhance regulatory alignment and safety standards across various aviation domains.

Furthermore, the authority organised a workshop titled “Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) and Flight Data Analysis (FDA)” in collaboration with Airbus and the ICAO Middle East Regional Office. The workshop, attended by 60 aviation specialists, explored fundamental concepts of safety management systems and flight data analysis to improve aviation safety.

Pilot Amr El-Sharkawy emphasised that these events align with the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s commitment to developing human resources and promoting safety and quality standards in the aviation industry, in cooperation with international organisations and leading aviation entities.

Moreover, in the spirit of continuous coordination and co-operation, a delegation from the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority participated in the first workshop on “Auditing and Inspection Techniques” in collaboration with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in Larnaca, Cyprus.

The workshop aimed to enhance aviation security and facilitate effective communication among regional civil aviation authorities, underscoring Egypt’s leading role in aviation security in the Middle East and Africa.

These collaborative efforts reinforce Egypt’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and security in civil aviation, reflecting its leadership in the region and beyond.
