Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) is probing co-operation with South Korea in medical technology, digital transformation, artificial intelligence and smart hospitals, with a view to transferring Korean expertise and technology to Egypt.
EHA Chairman Ahmed el-Sobky held talks on Tuesday with President of the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI), Ko Sang-baek, on the sidelines of the 49th International Hospital Federation (IHF) World Hospital Congress in Seoul this month.
The discussions focused on leveraging South Korea’s advanced experience in AI applications, smart hospital systems and healthcare facility management, as well as improving institutional performance.
The two sides also discussed signing a memorandum of understanding in March to establish a framework for knowledge and technology transfer and expertise exchange.
They further explored training opportunities for EHA technical staff in scientific research, innovation and medical technology, including training grants in South Korea.
El-Sobky stressed the importance of sustainable international partnerships and investing in human resources to enhance healthcare efficiency and service quality. Ko welcomed expanding co-operation between the two countries in medical technology, AI, smart hospitals, training and research.
The talks were part of EHA efforts to further boost its international partnerships with specialised institutions and benefit from leading global experiences in medical technology and digital transformation, supporting the development of healthcare facilities, enhancing workforce efficiency, and improving the quality and sustainability of services provided under the Universal Health Insurance System.
