ISTANBUL – The Egyptian kickboxing team succeeded in winning 26 medals during the Mediterranean Kickboxing Championship held in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Egyptian kickboxing team ranked second in the overall standings of the Mediterranean Kickboxing Championship held in Turkey, making Egypt one of the leading nations in the sport.

The team won 8 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 14 bronze medals, earning the title of the “dark horse” of the championship.

Mohamed Sobih, President of the Egyptian Kickboxing Federation stated in a press release on Sunday that the players achieved a significant accomplishment in the Mediterranean Kickboxing Championship, surpassing participating countries worldwide, with more than 5,000 athletes competing.

He noted that the Egyptian achievements were widely praised, reflecting the development of kickboxing in recent years.

Sobih added that the host country, Turkey, came in first place as it participated in all weight categories with a large number of players, while Egypt surpassed many countries and outperformed world champions from Spain, Portugal, France, and Morocco. He emphasized that this achievement is unprecedented in the history of kickboxing.

The Egyptian team participated in the Mediterranean Kickboxing Championship and the World Cup with 27 male and female athletes.
