CAIRO – The Arab Parliament (AP) underlined the importance of sustainable development, as the optimum solution to realise a safe recovery from Covid pandemic.
The remark was made by Deputy Speaker of the Arab Parliament a Hassan al Madhani, who is also chairman of the AP’s Sustainable Development Committee.
Madhani is representing the Parliament in a virtual meeting of the parliamentary forum on sustainable development plan 2030, held on Wednesday.
The meeting was co-organised by ESCWA, Inter-Parliamentary Union and UN Development Programme.
He underscored the necessity of benefiting from cruel lessons following coronavirus crisis to face any similar future crises.
In co-operation with the authorities concerned in Arab states, the Parliament is now preparing a parliamentary vision on economic and social repercussions of the pandemic and its impact on Arab societies, according to him.
