President
Abdel Fattah El Sisi has given directives for postponing the implementation of amendments to the Property Notarisation Law for a transitional period of no less than two years in order to provide the opportunity and time for societal dialogue.

The president gave the directives during his meeting Monday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Justice Minister Omar Marawan, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said, adding that the meeting was called for a review of action to upgrade the public notary system and relevant government efforts.

In pursuance of the directives, the government will draft a law to permit such postponement.

The presidential directives also included the setting of fixed, reduced and clearly defined charges to be collected for property notarising during the transitional period. The value of such charges, the president told the meeting, would be decided according to the property’s space and kind, instead of the tax levied on property transactions.

During the same meeting, President Sisi called for conducting a study to build in the New Administrative Capital a ‘justice city’ that comprises a central complex for courts, a centre for studies and other justice-related services.
