A number of co-operation protocols and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Aswan governorate were signed on Tuesday as part of a “Decent Life” presidential initiative meant to upgrade the Egyptian countryside across the country.

Minister Amr Talaat and Governor of Aswan Ashraf Attia attended the signing ceremony.

The step was meant to develop information infrastructure in Aswan’s underdeveloped areas.

Talaat visited Aswan yesterday to inaugurate a number of communications, information technology and postal projects.

Talaat said that his ministry is working on a number of important projects in Aswan, including digital transformation schemes.

During the visit, Talaat toured a digital creativity centre project.

He noted that the centre should serve border areas and emerging companies. It will be established at Aswan University at a total cost of 80 million pounds, the minister noted.

The centre should provide databases needed for civil service and should act to achieve good governance at the administrative, financial and technical levels, Talaat said.

About 82 services will be offered by the centre, which will be connected with IT development units, the governor said, adding this is meant to prevent face-to-face communication between citizens who apply for the services and employees who offer them.

All this is done in order to achieve full transparency and provide high-quality services, Governor Attia noted.
Attia stressed that a great deal of attention is being paid to implementing digital transformation in the Upper Egypt.
Aswan is 90 per cent ready to activate 82 different services as part of the digitization project, Attia noted.

Attia shed light on IT services and programmes launched as part of the digitisation strategy.
The government is keen to achieve a quantum leap in the IT field nationwide as directives by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to upgrade IT services, Talaat said.

In alignment with Egypt Vision 2030, and Egypt’s digital transformation strategy, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has embarked on building Digital Egypt.

Digital Egypt is an all-encompassing vision and plan, laying the foundations for the transformation of Egypt into a digital society.
