Egypt’s  Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has devised a post-Covid-19 strategy to increase tourism 30 per cent per year to reach 30 million visitors by 2028.

In statements to the official Middle East News Agency (MENA) on Sunday, the General Supervisor of the International Relations and Agreements Department at the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Amr Abdullah said the World Tourism Organisation’s (WTO) trajectories indicate that the Middle East region’s performance was the strongest compared to others following the coronavirus pandemic.

Abdullah, who was present at the 49th WTO Regional Commission for the Middle East, said the ministry would continue to work with international organisations to strengthen co-operation and reach further agreements in tourism sphere.

He also referred to the role adopted by the Ministry of Tourism in co-operation with the private sector to offer incentives for encouraging investment with the aim of boosting tourism.

The 49th Regional Commission discussed recent developments in tourism sector and future WTO plans.
