Sisi tours northern coastal road network

The tour included the axis roads connecting this network with governorates in the Nile Delta and Egyptian capital Cairo, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.

He added that the president also made a tour of the Cairo-Alexandria desert road which is being upgraded at present.

The road stretches over 160 kilometres, connecting the Egyptian capital with the northern coastal city.

Its ongoing upgrade will widen it to two 8-lane carriageways, Ambassador Radi said.

The president also toured the 260 kilometre el-Dabaa axis road, which is also being widened to eight-lane carriageways in each direction, Ambassador Radi said.

He also referred to the ongoing upgrade of the International Coastal Road to Alamein Airport and the 130-kilometre Wadi el-Natrun-Alamein Road, will also have eight lanes each way.

The president said the ongoing upgrade of northern coastal roads should facilitate their integration with major national projects, such as New Delta agricultural project, New Alamein City, el-Dabaa nuclear power plant and Alamein Airport that are currently underway in the area.

The president added that the same roads and axes need to connect resorts in Marsa Matrouh Governorate, accommodate greater volumes of traffic while easing traffic flow and facilitate the movement of goods to and from this area, Ambassador Radi quoted the president as saying.

He expected the trade movement in the area to grow in the coming period, thanks to the comprehensive development.
