CAIRO – Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed El Tayyeb said the world has become “numb to the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza,” wondering how the savage world dares to support the monsters with weapons while they see with their own eyes that these arms are used to exterminate innocent children and women.

This came during Tayyeb’s meeting with Yemeni Minister of Endowments and Guidance Mohammed Shabebah to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation.

He said history will not forget this tragedy and will not forgive its perpetrators and supporters, stressing that they brought Gaza back to the ages of ignorance and the law of the jungle, committing massacres that even animals would abhor.

The Grand Imam also stressed the depth of the historic relations that link Al Azhar to Yemen, reiterating Al Azhar’s readiness to provide all means of religious and scientific support that the Yemeni people need.

For his part, the Yemeni minister expressed his happiness over his visit of the Grand Imam of Al Azhar, reiterating his country’s appreciation for his stances in support of the nation’s issues.

“Your influence is great and your efforts are tangible in supporting the issues of the Islamic nation, and the Yemenis appreciate your stances towards Yemen, Palestine, Lebanon and the various components of the nation,” he said.

“We learned at the hands of Al-Azhar scholars and were raised by them,” he noted.

“Al Azhar is our school and our educator, and we are proud to belong to it,” according to the Yemini minister.

An agreement was signed to enhance scientific and religious relations between Yemen and Al Azhar on the sidelines of the meeting, signed by Dr. Muhammad Al-Dhuwaini, Undersecretary of Al Azhar, and the Yemeni Minister of Endowments.
