U.S. Vice President JD Vance issued a blistering rebuke to Israeli critics of the new U.S.-Iran agreement on Thursday, pointedly reminding Israel of its geopolitical isolation and reliance on American defense aid.
As the Trump administration scrambled to defend the diplomatic pact ending the war with Iran, Vance was questioned by reporters at the White House regarding reports that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was privately fuming over the deal.
While Vance noted he had not heard those specific comments from Netanyahu, he directly targeted members of the Prime Minister’s cabinet who have openly attacked the agreement and leveled personal insults at President Donald Trump.
“My message to them would be twofold,” Vance told reporters. “No. 1: Donald J. Trump is the only head of state in the entire world who is sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time.”
Vance warned the hardline ministers that alienated rhetoric could jeopardize Israel’s most vital relationship. “If I was in the cabinet of the Israeli government, I might not be attacking the only powerful ally that I have anywhere left in the entire world,” he said.
