NEW YORK – UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned Israeli settlement expansion in the West Bank and the dangerously escalating settler violence against civilians.
Al-Qahera News TV reported on Friday that Guterres said 2025 witnessed the largest expansion of settlement plans since UN monitoring began.
He made it clear that all settlements are illegal and constitute a flagrant violation of international law.
The Secretary-General expressed deep concern over the fragile security situation in the Gaza Strip and the continued violence that threatens the ceasefire.
He noted that recurring Israeli raids in Gaza continue to inflict significant civilian casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure, with more than 80% of residential and public buildings destroyed or severely damaged.
