The Palestinian cabinet on Tuesday urged the international community to act urgently over Israeli threats to target Palestinian state institutions and leaders, warning that the threats must be taken seriously.
The cabinet cited recent remarks by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz threatening an “all-out war,” saying the combination of threats of aggression and expanding settlements revealed a systematic policy aimed at undermining the Palestinian political and legal system and imposing annexation by force.
The warning came during the cabinet’s weekly meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, according to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.
The cabinet also warned of a rise in attacks by settler groups across the occupied West Bank, which it said were carried out with the protection and participation of Israeli forces. More than 395 attacks were recorded in the past week alone, killing seven Palestinians, it said.
At the same time, Israeli forces intensified demolitions, destroying more than 42 Palestinian homes and other structures across the territory, the cabinet said.
It renewed calls for the international community and UN agencies to ensure the delivery of humanitarian and relief supplies to the Gaza Strip and to provide basic necessities, particularly as restrictions on international aid organisations have limited their operations and reduced assistance to impoverished and displaced people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
The cabinet warned that declining aid could further worsen conditions for displaced Palestinians and called for increased humanitarian support. It also instructed relevant authorities to work with international organisations to expand their contributions and secure additional funding.
The Palestinian government further demanded that any efforts to clear rubble in Gaza be placed under Palestinian administration and supervised by trusted bodies, saying this was necessary to preserve evidence and identify the remains of more than 10,000 people believed to be missing beneath the debris.
It reiterated its support for UN warnings that Israel was allegedly seeking to erase evidence of crimes and obstruct justice for victims.
