The Israeli occupation authorities Saturday morning closed the Allenby/King Hussein/al-Karama Bridge crossing with Jordan for Palestinian travelers and also closed all checkpoints around occupied East Jerusalem, according to various sources.
The head of the crossings authority, Nathmi Muhanna, told WAFA that the Israeli occupation authorities closed al-Karama crossing in both directions, leading travelers to return to where they came from.
He said no time was given for when the crossing will be reopened.
Israel also closed all entrances to the city of Jericho, to the east of the West Bank closest to the Jordanian borders and the crossing.
It also closed checkpoints in the Jordan Valley.
In Jerusalem, witnesses said Israel closed all checkpoints leading to and from the West Bank to East Jerusalem.
They said people were stranded at the checkpoints, where thousands of people cross every day, causing a heavy traffic jam.
No reason was given for the closure of the checkpoints including the busy Qalandia checkpoint.
