BAGHDAD – Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid voiced appreciation of the role of the press in achieving national security and stability.
He made the remarks during the National Day of the Iraqi Press and the 154th anniversary of the newspaper “Zawraa” publication in 1869.
The event was attended by an Egyptian delegation under Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulations (SCMR) Karam Gabr, a number of board chairpersons and chief editors of national newspapers as well as a delegation from the Syndicate of Journalists.
A delegation representing Arab information and media ministries participated in the event.
The Iraqi president said Iraqi journalists spare no effort to defend their nation and promote peaceful coexistence.
