Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tuesday that the success of ongoing negotiations with the United States hinges on both sides fully carrying out the commitments they have agreed to, emphasising that remarks made outside the established framework do nothing to move the discussions forward.

“The effectiveness of the negotiations with the US depends on honoring the agreed obligations and implementing them precisely,” Pezeshkian wrote on X, the US-based social media platform.

“Progress will be judged by how faithfully these responsibilities are met,” he added.

He stressed once again that “comments made beyond the agreed text do not contribute to advancing the talks.”

According to state media, Pezeshkian is scheduled to travel to Pakistan on Tuesday, following mediated discussions between Tehran and Washington in Switzerland facilitated by Islamabad.

One purpose of the visit, said Habibollah Abbasi, head of public relations in the president’s office, is to thank Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for “his mediation between Iran and the United States,” as reported by the IRNA state news agency.

Pezeshkian’s trip comes after senior Iranian representatives held an extended negotiating round with US officials in Switzerland.

The mediators, Pakistan and Qatar, announced that the parties had agreed on a “roadmap toward reaching a final deal within 60 days,” with technical discussions set to continue throughout the week at the Swiss resort.

Meanwhile, Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, is traveling to Oman to discuss joint efforts to “strengthen” Iran’s arrangements for managing maritime activity in the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement posted Monday on his Telegram channel.

The statement added that Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is part of the Iranian delegation to Oman.
