ADDIS ABABA – President Azali Assoumani of the Comoros received on Saturday the presidency of the African Union from Senegalese President Macky Sall.
Sall said in his word to mark the handing over of the presidency to Assoumani that he congratulates him on his election, adding that the task ahead is great given the continental and international conditions but “we are confident in the new AU presidency’s ability to serve the African Union.”
He stressed the need to expedite the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, pointing out that this issue requires the mobilization of all efforts and promising commitment to cooperate with the new AU presidency in its efforts to serve the African Union.
