CAIRO – The Arab League condemned Jewish settlers’ attack on a church in the occupied Old City of Jerusalem.
Three extremist Jewish settlers stormed the Church of the Condemnation, located at the Second Station of the Via Dolorosa, smashing a statute of Jesus and attempting to set fire to the place.
In a statement, Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League for Palestinian Affairs Saeed Abu Ali held the Israeli government responsible for the violations targeting Muslim and Christian holy places in the Palestinian territories in general and in Jerusalem in particular, in a bid to Judaize them and change their demographic features.
He called for bringing to account the perpetrators of these terrorist crimes, calling on relevant international institutions to break their silence and apply international law to protect religious places.
Keeping mum at flagrant violations committed by Israeli forces and settlers encourages them to continue attacks on holy places, he warned.
