The Arab League (AL) will dispatch a mission to monitor the Lebanese parliamentary elections scheduled for May 15.
The mission will be headed by AL Assistant Secretary General Ahmed Rashid Khattabi.
As part of the pan-Arab body’s continued support to Lebanon and in response to an invitation from the Lebanese interior minister, the AL decided to dispatch a mission to oversee the Lebanese parliamentary elections, said Khattabi on Tuesday.
The mission is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with the Lebanese bodies concerned with organising the parliamentary elections, he added.
The elections in Lebanon will take place on May 15 with candidates competing in 15 districts in all of the governorates and districts to select new representatives for 128 parliamentary seats.
