Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has signed two MoUs with Microsoft for launching a host of initiatives in fields that include capacity building for youth, incentivising technological innovation, entrepreneurship, incubating IT start up, a ministry statement reveled Sunday.

 

The move is part of the ministry’s tireless work to prepare national cadres in the various fields of technology, through creating an environment favourable for technological innovation, the statement said.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, attended the signing ceremony.

 

The first MoU aims to launch a national programme for capacity building, to  prepare the young cadres needed for the implementation of the IT projects ion Egypt.

 

The three-year MoU also covers an initiative that will offer multi-level professional self-training for about 10,000 IT specialists annually.

 

Another initiative included is Tawar w 3’ayar (Develop and Change) which aims to promote the digital, employment and programming skills of more than 200,000 young people every year.

 

One more initiative will seek to hone youth skills on the top 10 jobs needed worldwide, targeting 10,000 people annually. In addition, there will be workshops for 100 of government leaders through Microsoft’s Artificial Intelligence School.

 

 

The MoU, was signed by Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology, RaafatHindy, and Mirna Aref, Country General Manager, Microsoft Egypt.

 

The second MoU, signed between the ministry’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Microsoft, will seek to boost co-operation in fields like incubating IT start ups, supporting technological innovation, and backing and training entrepreneurs, through the global programmeMicrosoft for Startups.

the MoU covers fours tracks for co-operation between Microsoft Egypt and ITIDA’sTechnology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC).

 

One of these is supporting 100 startups, with $3 million, to enhance opportunities of their sustainable growth through Microsoft Azure, commonly referred to as Azure, is a cloud computing service created by Microsoft for building, testing, deploying, and managing applications and services through Microsoft-managed data centers.

 

In addition, 500 entrepreneurs form the various Egyptian governorates will be offered specialised training on the best practices for the growth of startups and strategies for entering the market.

 

The second MoU was signed by ITIDA’sDeputy Executive Director, and TIEC Chief Dr. Houssam Osman, and Microsoft Egypt Mirna Aref.
