LONDON — American fourth seed Jessica Pegula reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the second time with a comeback victory over compatriot Iva Jovic in the last 16.
The 32-year-old showed her experience to defeat teenager Jovic 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 on Court One and set up a tie against either Bencic.
Pegula, who has never won a Grand Slam title, last played in the quarters at the All England Club in 2023 when she lost to eventual champion Marketa Vondrousova.
Elsewhere, Czech 10th seed Karolina Muchova booked her place in the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the first time in five years by battling past 2024 winner Barbora Krejcikova, AFP reported.
The 29-year-old, a former French Open finalist, held off two-time Grand Slam champion Krejcikova to win 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 in an all-Czech fourth-round clash.
