MADRID — Englishman Tyrrell Hatton said his newborn daughter was the drive behind winning the LIV Golf tournament in Andalucia.
The 34-year-old claimed the title at Real Club Valderrama in southern Spain, just to the north of Gibraltar, by two shots to finish 11 under par and edge former Masters and US Open champion Jon Rahm.
Hatton became a father last month and missed last week’s LIV Golf Korea to be with his partner.
“One of my motivations probably moving forward is when Althea grows up, she will know that I was pretty good at golf sometimes,” Hatton said according to AFP.
“I would love to continue to be able to win tournaments when she’s old enough to remember that happening.
“It’s definitely given me a different kind of motivation,” he added.
