BUCHAREST — Egyptian tennis player Mayar Sherif advanced to the round of 16 at the 250-point Iasi Open after defeating Hungary’s Dalma Galfi in straight sets on Tuesday.
Sherif, ranked No. 97 in the world, secured a comfortable 6-2, 6-0 victory over Galfi, who is ranked No. 137, in the first round of the tournament.
The Egyptian will next face Spain’s Kaitlin Quevedo, ranked No. 100 globally, for a place in the quarterfinals. The Iasi Open is being held in Romania from July 12 to 19.
