By Mohamed Attia

Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, Pilot Mohamed Abbas Helmy, held discussions with Marius Skuodis, Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania, to explore avenues of co-operation in various civil aviation activities between the two countries.

Both sides agreed to strengthen mutual co-operation in several important aviation-related matters, aiming to enhance the current and future vision to support Egyptian presence with Eastern European countries. They discussed the possibility of opening an air route between Egypt and Lithuania to support trade and tourism between the two countries, particularly enhancing air traffic to Egyptian tourist attractions.

Minister Abbas emphasised the significance of this visit within the framework of the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Lithuania across various sectors, including civil aviation. He stressed the importance of deepening ongoing coordination between Egypt and Lithuania to foster more promising opportunities and partnerships across all levels to achieve mutual interests.

He acknowledged Egypt’s pivotal role in the region as a gateway to Africa and the Middle East, as well as its significant capabilities across various fields. Minister Skuodis and the accompanying delegation expressed admiration for the new administrative capital of Egypt, a technological and smart city representing a civilisational leap towards sustainable development. They commended its architectural and construction designs, facilitating communication among government ministries. They also praised Egypt’s aviation development efforts, especially amidst the increasing demand from Lithuanian tourists to visit Egyptian tourist attractions.
