Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh Hefny met with  Abdullah Al-Mandous, the President of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), at the Ministry’s headquarters to explore ways to enhance technical and training co-operation.

The meeting, attended by Hisham Tahoun, Chairman of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, focused on exchanging data, supporting capacity-building initiatives, and developing meteorological infrastructure in Egypt and across African nations.

The discussions highlighted the critical role of meteorology in various sectors, especially aviation, and explored how to contribute to environmental sustainability. Climate change and cloud seeding technology were also part of the talks.

Minister Hefny praised the fruitful co-operation between Egypt and the WMO, emphasising the need to expand this partnership in light of the growing climate challenges and their direct impact on the aviation industry.

He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, which plays a vital role in ensuring aviation safety, stressing that international co-operation and knowledge-sharing are key to modernizing Egypt’s meteorological systems.
