Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas chaired the first meeting of the Supreme National Committee for Civil Aviation Safety and Security.
Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority Amr el-Sharqawi, and Advisor to the Minister of Civil Aviation for Air Transport Affairs John Elias attended the event, alongside a number of board chairmen of companies and bodies affiliated to the civil aviation sector.
Minister Abbas stressed the importance of setting national standards compatible with the recommendations and legislations issued by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) in order to reach global indicators regarding air safety issues and to achieve the principle of transparency and credibility.
He referred to the importance of drawing up a national safety programme and effective strategies in various aviation fields, in addition to setting out a timetable for the working plan to achieve the desired results.
During the event, Advisor to the Minister of Civil Aviation for Air Transport, Pilot John Elias, reviewed the tasks of the National Air Safety Plan and its operational regulations for aviation safety, in light of the challenges facing the air transport industry.
For his part, Pilot Amr el-Sharqawi, head of the Civil Aviation Authority, confirmed the importance of implementing the authority’s National Safety Plan before 2024, in accordance with international and cultural legislations of safety
