Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Wednesday at El Alamein International Airport King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain on his visit to Egypt.
The two leaders held talks reaffirming the depth of the longstanding fraternal relations between Egypt and Bahrain and their shared commitment to further strengthening bilateral co-operation across various fields.
Arab, Islamic ministers condemn Israeli measures in occupied Jerusalem
The participants of the Arab Ministerial Committee on Jerusalem strongly condemned Israeli policies and measures aimed at altering the Arab, Islamic and Christian identity, legal status and demographic composition of occupied Jerusalem, describing them as illegal, null and void under international law.
The committee comprised Jordan, Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Palestine, Egypt and Morocco, together with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and representatives of Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye and Malaysia.Meeting in Amman on August 5, 2026 at Jordan’s invitation, the participants reaffirmed that East Jerusalem is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory and the capital of the State of Palestine, the committee said in a statement.
They stressed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, remains the only path to a just and lasting peace in accordance with the two-State solution, relevant UN resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative and the New York Declaration.
Gov’t establishes Egypt Cities Transportation to operate smart urban transport
Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has witnessed the signing of an investment and shareholders’ agreement at the Government Headquarters in New Alamein City to establish Egypt Cities Transportation, a new company that will operate and manage smart and sustainable transport systems across Egypt’s new urban communities.
The agreement was signed between Egypt Cities for Asset and Utilities Management, affiliated with the New Urban Communities Authority and the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority, and Mwasalat Misr, in which the National Bank of Egypt is a shareholder.
Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Engineer Randa el-Menshawy, Executive Director of the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority Colonel Bahaa El-Ghannam, Deputy Minister of Housing for Urban Communities Walid Abbas, and Chief Executive Officer of the National Bank of Egypt Mohamed El-Etreby attended the signing ceremony.
Multiple people dead in North Carolina shooting
Multiple people were killed and at least one other person was injured in a mass shooting in Prospect Hill, North Carolina, on Wednesday, authorities said.
The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded shortly before 8 am local time (12:00GMT) to a report of a shooting at a residence on Brooks Road, where they found multiple victims with gunshot wounds.
Zelenskyy calls for more air defences
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has blamed allies for not delivering air defences fast enough after Ukraine failed to shoot down a single Russian missile in a deadly overnight attack that killed at least 17 people and injured dozens more.
Preliminary data from the Ukrainian air force showed its defences shot down 98 of the 115 drones fired by Russia overnight, but no ballistic missiles.
