WASHINGTON, Oct. 4, 1973 — President Nixon applied polite but firm pressure on Austria over its decision to close the Schoenau transit camp for Jewish emigrants.
Israel has demanded that Austria maintain the transit facilities, while reports say Chancellor Kreisky personally proposed the camp’s closure.
