Egyptian flags hoisted across Sinai

25 April 1982, Egypt has officially regained full control of the Sinai Peninsula today following the final withdrawal of the Israeli occupation. Marking the historic restoration of sovereignty, Egyptian flags were raised across Sinai. President Mubarak hailed the achievement as a result of “struggle and sacrifice,” while Prime Minister Begin declared a commitment to “peace forever.”
